Ergothioneine is one of the oldest bioactive ingredients. Ergothioneine is not produced in the body, it can be obtained through dietary supplements. We have launched OEM,ODM ergothioneine supplements with high bioavailability and purity.

Human cell experiments showed that at 4.6μg/mL, L-ET reduced lipid peroxidation by 67%. In addition, L-ET inhibited lipid peroxidation by 100% at 22.9μg/mL, while CoQ10 only inhibited 37% at the same concentration. In vitro experiments showed that L-ET eliminated singlet molecular oxygen (SMO) 3-75 times better than other antioxidants.

The article published in 2016, "Ergothioneine levels in the elderly population decrease with age and the incidence of cognitive decline", concluded that ergothioneine intake can inhibit the aging process of the brain and improve age-related learning and memory impairment.

In March 2024, Professor Yukio Kato of the School of Pharmacy at Kanazawa University in Japan published an article in the journal "GeroScience" stating that ergothioneine supplementation can extend the lifespan of mice and promote their aging in a healthy way, and improve the non-aging period.

The results of animal experiments showed that supplementation of EGT can not only protect the kidneys and liver from lipid peroxidation, but also reduce the consumption of endogenous antioxidants such as glutathione and a-tocopherol.

How much ergothioneine per day?

In October 2017, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) adopted the "Scientific Opinion on the Safety of L-ergothioneine". The European Union (EU) approved the use of L-ergothioneine in dietary supplements, with a daily intake of 30 mg for the general population and 20 mg for children over 3 years old. Pregnant and lactating women are not allowed to take it.
