Stevioside, Greater Use Of Sweeteners

Low sugar is the hottest topic in the beverage industry for nearly two years, young consumers especially care about sugar content and calories.

53% of 18-24-year-olds (vs41% of 40-49-year-olds) view calorie content before making a purchase decision, and 51% view sugar content (vs44% of 40-49-year-olds). The focus on energy intake was predominantly on women aged 25-29 years; 18% of them will first look at the caloric content.

Positioning young consumers for products would benefit from a claim of "low / no / reduced sugar " or " low / no / reduced calories ".

From the top ten varieties of export in 2014-2019 extracts, stevia glycosides have been stably ranked first.

Stevioside has become the most used sweetener in new foods and beverages due to its advantages of pure nature, high sweetness, low heat, health, being second only to sucralose and acesulfame.

The use of " leading edge " ingredients is thus considered: stevioside as a natural sweetener for turmeric beverages with huge market potential.
