What does sulforaphane do to your body?
When cruciferous vegetables or their extracts are chewed, the myrosinase contained in them can hydrolyze some GLR into SFN.
The remaining GLR enters the human body and is hydrolyzed into SFN by intestinal flora such as Escherichia coli, Enterococcus faecalis and Streptococcus spp. After that, SFN and its metabolites are mainly excreted through urine.
1. SFN is an isothiocyanate. Studies have found that the antioxidant capacity of SFN is 20 times that of quercetin and 80 times that of curcumin and CUR, and it has strong medicinal potential.
2. It has a preventive effect on tumors. It can inhibit the progression of tumors by regulating gene expression, oxidative stress, inflammation, cell proliferation, apoptosis and other molecular pathways.
3. As a chemical inducer, SFN can inhibit the production of inflammatory factors by acting on the NF-κB or Nrf2 signaling pathway, thereby effectively preventing neurodegenerative diseases (NDD), stroke, enteritis and other diseases.
The combination of SFN and CUR can show a good therapeutic effect on inflammatory-related diseases at a lower concentration.
