Nicotinamide powder, also known as vitamin B3 and vitamin PP, is a type of B vitamin. It is a component of coenzyme 1 and coenzyme II.
Its appearance is a white crystalline powder, odorless or almost odorless, bitter in taste, easily soluble in water or ethanol, and soluble in glycerol. 1 g is soluble in 1 mL water, 1.5 mL alcohol and 10 mL glycerol. Nicotinamide has the best stability in a solution with a pH value of 6.
Both the CTFA and the European Union classify nicotinamide as a cosmetic raw material. Niacinamide can also be used as a food additive.
