NHDC

Neohesperidin dihydrochalcone NHDC powder is a chalcone derivative, with the major synthetic raw components being naringin and hesperidin.
Naringin and hesperidin are first removed from the peel and fruit of citrus fruits, then transformed to neohesperidin by different methods, and lastly NHDC is produced using catalytic hydrogenation.
Neohesperidin Dihydrochalcone (NHDC), sometimes known as Neohesperidin DC or simply NHDC. It is a sweetener with a high sweetness, a refreshing sweetness, and a long lasting aftertaste. When combined with other sweeteners or sugar alcohols, NHDC produces excellent synergy.
Its safety has been acknowledged internationally, and it has been licensed for use as a food additive in numerous nations. The FDA and EFSA have set standards for its usage as a food additive.

NHDC powder

1. Food sweeteners/sweetness enhancers

Used in combination with sucralose, polyol sweeteners, saccharin, etc., it has a strong synergistic effect, which can increase sweetness, reduce the amount of sweeteners, reduce costs, and at the same time make the sweetness more pure. Widely used in fruit drinks, milk, fruit wine, desserts, baked goods, candies, chewing gum, sauces, low-energy drinks, pickles, vinegar, betel nuts, preserved fruits, etc.

Adding neomethylhesperidin dihydrochalcone to carbonated drinks can improve the sourness, astringency and bad aftertaste of the product. NHDC is added to sugar-free chewing gum and lemon tea in Belgium, NHDC is added to soft drinks in Spain, and NHDC is added to various sugar-free and low-energy foods and raw materials in Switzerland.

2. Sweeteners for functional foods/health products

NHDC powder does not convert calories in the body. It is a low-calorie sweetener and has physiological activities such as hypoglycemic, cholesterol-lowering, and antioxidant. It is especially suitable for use as a sugar substitute in functional foods, health products, dietary supplements and other healthy foods.

3. Drug and cosmetic raw materials

The physiological function of NHDC determines the raw materials that can be used to manufacture pharmaceutical raw materials for lowering blood lipids and lowering blood sugar, hepatoprotective agents and gastric medicines.

4. Bitterness masking agents and flavor modifiers

NHDC can act on bitter taste receptors when it is lower than the sweetness threshold, thereby raising the human threshold for bitterness, and the bitterness removal effect is significantly better than that of ordinary sweeteners.
