What does the moringa leaf do to the body?
1. Moringa oleifera polysaccharides(MOP) have a preventive effect on ulcerative colitis (UC). The results showed that MOP could inhibit weight loss and disease activity index of UC mice, MOP intervention reduced the expression of inflammatory cytokines, and MOP could regulate the metabolism of polyunsaturated fatty acids.
2. The hypoglycemic ability of Moringa leaf polysaccharides (MOP-1, MOP-2, MOP-3 and MOP-4)
The results showed that MOP-4 had a strong inhibitory effect on α-amylase and α-glucosidase, while MOP had a poor inhibitory effect on α-amylase and α-glucosidase.
3. The new bioactive polysaccharide (MOSP-1) extracted from Moringa has anti-inflammatory activity.
The bioactivity experiment showed that MOSP-1 can scavenge DPPH and ABTS free radicals, which demonstrated its antioxidant effect. In vitro experiments found that MOSP-1 can reduce the expression of inflammation-related cytokines, inhibit the activation of ERK, JNK, and P38, and increase phagocytic function.
