It is a glycoprotein polymer. It was originally extracted from the xylose of European beech wood. Now it is mostly synthesized in laboratories. The traditional raw material is a mixture of two configurations. The S configuration is more effective than R configuration.
CAS 439685-79-7 is known for improving skin elasticity and relieving skin aging.
The S-type was tested and found that the pure S-configuration is indeed better than the mixed type in terms of collagen regeneration. The effect of 10% addition of the former is equivalent to the effect of 15% addition of the latter.

Proxylane Hydroxypropyl Tetrahydropyrantriol promotes new collagen formation. Activates mucopolysaccharide synthesis by fibroblasts, as well as the synthesis of type I and type III collagen. The number of new collagen fibers increases and reticular tissue spontaneously forms again, which is more elastic and resistant, making the dermis layer tighter.
Type IV collagen and type VII collagen stabilize the epidermis and dermis. Multiple studies have shown that thinning of the junction layer between the epidermis and dermis and reduction of collagen can lead to reduced skin firmness and loose skin tissue.
In vitro studies on collagen grids in dermis models have shown that Hydroxypropyl Tetrahydropyrantriol promotes the reorganization of the extracellular matrix and increases skin elasticity. In vitro studies show an increase in the number of collagen fibers.

A six-month study of 41 women found that under the action of 3% concentration of Hydroxypropyl Tetrahydropyrantriol, the skin quality was comprehensively improved, the crow's feet at the corners of the eyes were reduced by 11%, and the skin's texture was improved. Firmness increased by 24%.
In vitro, dermatan sulfate synthesis (a type of mucopolysaccharide) is activated by Hydroxypropyl Tetrahydropyrantriol and works synergistically with the fibroblast growth factor FGF 10 to promote epidermal regeneration after allergy testing.
It works together with LHA (Capryloyl Salicylic Acid). Due to its gentle peeling effect, it can promote the regeneration of the epidermis, and the ratio of the two ingredients achieves a complementary effect.
