Ceramide powder, also known as sphingolipids, is a type of sphingolipid composed of sphingosine long-chain bases and fatty acids.
Intercellular lipids are mainly composed of ceramide, cholesterol, fatty acids and vitamin E/D. Ceramide is an important component of the stratum corneum of the skin, with a content of about 40-50%. At present, 12 types of ceramides have been found in the stratum corneum.

1. Studies have shown that ceramide has a moisturizing effect 16 times that of hyaluronic acid. It is a highly effective moisturizer that is easily absorbed by the skin and can promote the penetration of other nutrients. It has a moisturizing effect of up to 80% on elderly dry skin.
It can form a barrier on the surface of the skin. It not only helps the skin lock in moisture, but also repairs the skin lipid barrier.
Ceramide can significantly promote the expression level of filaggrin mRNA and protein. Among them, when filaggrin enters the stratum corneum from the granular layer, it undergoes a series of enzymatic hydrolysis and is converted into polycarboxylic acid substances, which have moisturizing effects.
2. Ceramide accounts for more than half of the content of intercellular lipids and is considered to be an excellent ingredient for repairing the skin barrier. Some ceramides form covalent bonds with the surface proteins of keratinocytes, pulling the keratinocytes together and making the skin tighter.
