In clinical, scopolamine is available in two forms: scopolamine hydrobromide and scopolamine butylbromide. Scopolamine hydrobromide is the hydrobromide of scopolamine extracted from Solanaceae plants such as Atropa belladonna, Datura stramonium, and Scopolamine. Butylscopolamine butylbromide is a drug obtained by quaternization of scopolamine, which has a butylbromide group in its structure, rather than the butylbromide of scopolamine.
Scopolamine was first developed by E. Schmidt in 1892 when it was isolated from scopolamine.
Anisodamine is mainly an alkaloid extracted from the root of Solanaceae plant Anisodamine. The natural product is anisodamine hydrobromide, and the synthetic product is called racemic anisodamine. Both are M cholinergic receptor blockers.

1. Scopolamine hydrobromide has a strong effect on pupil and glandular secretion.
2. Scopolamine hydrobromide not only has peripheral anticholinergic effects, but also central anticholinergic effects. It easily passes through the blood-brain barrier. Its effect on the central nervous system is mainly inhibitory. It has a sedative and hypnotic effect on the brain and an excitatory effect on the respiratory center.
3. It has a central anticholinergic effect, which determines that it can also be used to treat motion sickness such as seasickness and motion sickness.
What is scopolamine hydrobromide used for?
The clinical application dosage forms of scopolamine hydrobromide powder raw materials include tablets, injections, patches, etc. Among them, patches are often used to relieve seasickness, motion sickness, etc.
