Astaxanthin Can Reduce The UV Damage To Skin Cells

What is Astaxanthin ?

Astaxanthin (also known as mutuconavir or astaxanthin), is a kind of carotenoids, as a strong natural antioxidant. Like other carotenoids, astaxanthin belongs to a fat-soluble and water-soluble pigment that can be found in marine organisms such as shrimp, crab, salmon, algae and the like. Astaxanthin has a strong antioxidant capacity of 550 times that of vitamin E and 10 times of beta-carotene.Therefore, astaxanthin is packaged as a health food market in the market.

Can astaxanthin reduce the UV damage to skin cells?

Recently, a new in vivo and in vitro tests have shown that astaxanthin can reduce the aging of skin cells (epidermal keratinocytes) when the skin is exposed to sunlight.


The study conducted a clinical study of 65 healthy women with 35- to 60-year-old measuring wrinkle depth and skin moisture and conducted additional tests on stratum corneum to assess skin cell inflammatory factors.


The results showed that the control group of volunteers skin moisture and deep wrinkles are deteriorating, while taking natural astaxanthin experimental volunteers to maintain a healthy skin condition, and no significant deterioration observed.


The results show that natural astaxanthin may inhibit inflammation caused by skin condition deterioration, such as the formation of wrinkles and seasonal skin moisture decreased, thereby delaying skin aging.


Relevant person in charge said that the study proved that natural astaxanthin has a long-term anti-inflammatory effect, add natural astaxanthin can be due to humidity and sunshine caused by seasonal changes in skin symptoms, delay skin aging.
