Plant morphology:

Valerian is a perennial herb with a height of 100-150 cm.Stems erect, with longitudinal striations, with spindle-like rhizomes or mostly elongated fibrous roots. Basal leaves are plexiform, long oval, single pinnate compound leaves or irregular deep fissures, small leaves 9 - 15, large apical lobes, few serrations on the whole edge, long petioles, sheath-like base; Stem leaves opposite, sessile, pinnately cleaved, single pinnate, lobes 4.10 on each side, lanceolate, whole or with irregular coarse teeth; upward leaves tapering.Umbrella inflorescence is terminal, arranged neatly; flowers are small, white or purple red; bracts ovoid lanceolate, ciliated; calyx degenerates; corolla tubular, about 5 mm long. The cleavage is long round; the male is slightly longer than the corollary tube; the sub-room is lower and long round. The fruit is smooth and has 1 seed. Flowering period 6 - 7. The fruit period is from July to August.
