Inulin helps to enhance the gastrointestinal function of consumers

Jan 05, 2018

It is understood that the European Commission, according to article 13.5 health claim terms, that as chicory powder can increase the frequency of stool to promote normal gastrointestinal function, this ingredient will be used in food production. Adding inulin to food and beverages helps to enhance the gastrointestinal function of consumers without causing diarrhea.

Earlier, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) assessed the scientific basis for these health claims, including six intervention studies demonstrating that a minimum daily intake of 12 grams of the company's inulin could increase the frequency of bowel movements and promote digestive health.

The European Commission said it has been established that consumption of natural chicory powder (monosaccharides, disaccharides, an undyed mixture of naturally occurring fructans in nature) and gut health (normalization of bowel movements by increasing the frequency of stools) A causal relationship. Accordingly, a health claim that reflects this conclusion should meet these requirements.

Inulin resists digestion in the small intestine and is completely fermented in the large intestine. BENEO says in all aspects, improving gastrointestinal function by increasing optimal fiber intake signals a boost to gastrointestinal health and general wellbeing.
